Shipping & Receiving Specialist (contract)

Redwood City, CA Facilities Contract

Adverum is looking for a Shipping & Receiving Specialist to join our team in our Redwood City office. This person will be supporting the daily shipping and receiving operations at the Redwood City campus.  This role is responsible for performing essential on-site functions as outlined below. 

This will be a 3-6month contract.

What you'll do:

  • Supports on-site receiving and shipping operations.
  • Provides daily logistics-related service functions for internal customers.
  • Safely transport products and materials from the warehouse to designated drop zone/delivery areas, and between buildings using material handling equipment such as carts, pallet jacks, and cargo van.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment in the warehouse to ensure the floors, loading dock, and stock areas are maintained in a neat, orderly, audit-ready appearance.
  • Conduct monthly inspections of the warehouse area and assist Materials Management with resolving any suspect findings or observations.
  • Act as a liaison between R&D staff and Site Operations for any material issues or concerns.
  • Additional responsibilities may include:
  • Duties will include receipt of mail, sorting, delivery to employee mailboxes, postage meter operation, mailing out envelopes, letters, parcels, etc.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the department management.
  • Assist with investigations pertaining to deviations and assist with correct/preventive actions.
  • Provide additional support when needed: emergency response, glass wash and autoclave activities, and process gas deliveries.

  • Complete documentation for supporting Non-GXP and GXP shipping and receiving policies, and procedures.
  • Record deliveries using internal tracking system.
  • Control quantity and quality of all products received from suppliers and shipped to customers.
  • Order shipping supplies and ensure supplies are available as needed.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, and support others in the team
  • High School Diploma or GED is required; college education is a plus.
  • Two years of experience in warehouse operations.
  • Windows environment PC skills required (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Experience working in biotech and/or GxP environment is preferred
  • Experience with material handling equipment i.e. pallet jacks, carts, forklift, walkie stacker
  • Must be able and willing to safely and independently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able and willing to stand and walk for extended periods of time as necessary, including to and from other buildings on site.
  • Must be able and willing to work extended hours (overtime) as needed to meet periodic surges in activity.
